History of SPS

When SPS was established in 1994, it brought a zest and vitality into the Twin Cities’ psychoanalytic community.  During the first year of service, SPS hosted a professional conference featuring Dr. Frank Lachmann.  SPS has sought to continue to contribute to the psychoanalytic community through annual conferences with national speakers as well as monthly Firesides featuring local professionals.  SPS has evolved based on the needs of the community by offering a variety of interactions for the community.  Over its history, SPS has offered film viewings, study groups, and connections with various community groups.  Past conferences  which SPS has co-sponsored include James Fosshage, Ph. D., Carla Leone, Ph.D., Judy Teicholz, Ph.D., Dan Hill, Ph.D., Alicia Lieberman, Ph.D., Jon G. Allen, Ph.D., Mauricio Cortina, M.D., and Efrain Bleiberg, M.D.

SPS has remained an active element within the Twin Cities’ psychoanalytic community.  Its membership has increased and invites those from all professional disciplines and lay people alike.  It is constantly looking for ways to better serve the community and is open to input from its members.
